The Venue
The house was originally built by a Manchester mill owner in the early 1800s and was used as a summer residence.
The buildings have undergone many changes since that time. In 1997 the Training Centre was built to generate income to support our work with children and young people. In 2005 the Lakes Wing extension to the Education Centre was built with assistance from the Big Lottery Fund in order to provide more capacity and improve accessibility for disabled users.
Derwent Hill occupies a 28 acre estate bordered on the eastern and northern sides by the rivers Derwent and Greta. The site overlooks Derwent Water and is on the edge of the small village of Portinscale only a 1.5 km walk from the middle of Keswick
An outstanding course with enthusiastic, dedicated and knowledgeable staff
